Education customized for your child
“Kate is a consummate professional and experienced educator who cared for our daughter as a whole child. Kate taught her so much, from letters, numbers, and even sight reading words to life skills like cooking, cleaning, and getting dressed to social-emotional development like sharing, polite communication, and empathy.” ~ Mother of two year old - Austin, Texas
Get to know Kate
I am a passionate private educator with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Needs. I specialize in creating custom curricula that engage and inspire infants and toddlers through hands-on lessons and nature-based play. Additionally, I am a certified newborn care specialist which allows me to meet the unique needs of the youngest learners.
Each day, I will come to your home and implement engaging lessons that encourage critical thinking and collaboration. My “Fun First” approach means that your child will be laughing and smiling (and likely wiggling, hopping or skipping!) as he or she learns. Instead of work sheets I teach children through the exploration of nature, the creation of art and immersion in sensory experiences. Starting as young as six months old we explore STEM subjects, social emotional skill building, language development, and large and fine motor coordination. The focus of your child’s curriculum will be based on parent desire as well as the child’s own interests .
My teaching style incorporates elements of both Montessori and Waldorf. While Montessori emphasizes independence, Waldorf nurtures curiosity and encourages imaginative play; laying the foundation for critical thinking skills later on. Combining both approaches supports the development of a well-rounded child who is both capable and creatively engaged.
My ultimate goal is to ignite a lifelong love of learning in your child. I look forward to partnering with your family to provide an exceptional educational experience for your infant or toddler. Please inquire to learn more about the specialized approach I take when working with children with gifted abilities and those with special needs.
Along with a deep understanding of early childhood education, I bring over a decade of experience working in UHNW and high profile homes. I am professional, discrete and I understand how to collaborate with a large domestic staff. I have a flexible, proactive and organized approach to education and childcare that is ideal for fast paced families.
“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn.”
Dr. Maria Montesorri
Logistics of working together
I work as an educator for only one family at a time, ensuring that I can focus all of my energy on creating unique lesson plans that are designed for your child’s needs. This arrangement also allows me to provide the flexibility necessary to work with fast-paced, UHNW families.
I offer three to six hours of instruction per day depending on family preference. I work directly with your child, implementing fun, hands on lessons Monday through Thursday and I utilize Friday for lesson planning, reviewing assessments (as appropriate based on the age of the child), gathering materials, assessing locations for our future field trips and liaising with nannies, preschool teachers and other staff.
I work with children ranging in age from newborn through five years old.
My responsibilities with each child are different based on the needs of the family but generally they include the following: comprehensive education, curricula and lesson planning, researching their passions and interests to provide materials to deepen their knowledge base, benchmarking the child's progress, maintaining their schedule, driving them to activities and field trips, and tidying after the child’s activities.
My hourly rate for custom curricula development and implementation is $150 for one child.
“We found Kate to be exceptionally qualified and well-educated…she is also a lovely, trustworthy person.”
